Here is a press release from the CO Registry:

.CO Registry Soon to (Re)Auction 100 High Value Domain Names Held Over from Landrush Launch Phase

The .CO Registry will soon make a number of premium .CO domain names available to interested buyers by holding a (Re)Auction of domain names that have been held over from the company’s original Landrush launch phase, which took place in the Summer of 2010.

The Landrush (Re)Auctions will commence on Monday, October 31st at 12:00 noon and run through Monday, November 7th at 12:00 noon EST.  The (Re)Auctions will be managed by Pool.com (the same company that managed the original Landrush auctions).

Some of the names that will be made available include: (The full list of names may be found here)

OMG.CO, ASSETS.CO, UNIQUE.CO, ETC.CO, RAD.CO, ACCIDENTLAWYERS.CO, BIGIDEAS.CO, COMICBOOKS.CO, COSMETICDENTIST.CO, DOGFOOD.CO, ENGAGE.CO, FORMS.CO, FUNERALS.CO, HIVE.CO, HUB.CO, INTERACTIVE.CO, INJURYLAWYERS.CO, LAWN.CO, OFFROAD.CO, and NAMASTE.CO

While the original Landrush auctions were “closed” (meaning that you could only participate in the bidding if you had previously applied for the domain name during the Landrush phase); the re-auctions will be “open” to all (meaning that you can participate even if you didn’t apply for the particular domain name during the Landrush).

Interested bidders can find out more information by clicking here.  Bidders are advised to register in advance for the auction and to use the next week to prepare their auction strategy – including making the appropriate business case to business partners and colleagues and ensuring the necessary funds will be available to secure key domain names.

According to Sedo.com, the world’s largest and most well-known domain market, .CO has “become the rising star in the Online Domain Marketplace,” with a robust market of buyers and sellers continuing to evolve.

“With notable recent secondary market sales such as OnlineCasino.CO for $100,000, Business.CO for $80,000, and Music.CO for $30,000, we expect the Landrush (Re)Auctions to create a lot of excitement for individuals and businesses looking to build and extend their brands online,” says Nicolai Bezsonoff, Chief Operating Officer of .CO Internet S.A.S.

The annual TRAFFIC auctions starts today and there are a few decent .CO domains in the lot – The one that everyone is talking about is sex.co.

With the recent $100K sale of onlinecasino.co one can only imagine what this domain will sell for. Sex.co has not listed a reserve price – all we know is that the reserve is under $??,xxx.

Here are some of the .CO domains listed for sale at this years TRAFFIC auction:

Touchdown.co Reserve under $1500
HardDrives.co Reserve under $1500
Sub.co Reserve under $10,000
Her.co Reserve under $10,000
Emoticon.co Reserve under $3,000
goldjewelry.co NO RESERVE
Sex.co Reserve under ???,000
Approvals.co Reserve under $3,000
Duchang.co (chinese for “casino”) NO RESERVE

I am very curious to see how much these domains sell for – This is the first year that online bidding is not permitted. You need to physically be there or go old school and place your bid via the telephone or whatever that old technology is called – Why can’t you just skype your bid????

Most CO domains are registered at Godaddy and when one place has a ton of registered domains, it will also have a ton of domains that are expiring.

Most of the great one worded CO domains were registered early on in July 2011, but there is always an exception and a few good highly searched words that slip past someone – that is the case with Saudi.co.

This domain was registered in September of 2011 – Almost a full 2 months after the CO domain launch. The owner (who also lives in Saudi) did not renew this domain and it went to auction.

Saudi.co sold for $838 on GoDaddy earlier today – It was at $600+ with a little over an left in the auction.

This just goes to show you that there is money to be made with a good .co domain. Most of the domains that were registered in July were crap and people dropped them. This domain was registered in September and still caught the attention of 7 bidders with a total 105 bids!

Congrats to the new buyer and I wonder if the original owner is going to renew it in the final stages of redemption. I am curious to see what the new owner is going to do with it.

Most of these domains dont jump out at me – I would not pay the $30 reg fee on most, but there are a few good ones.

I personally like the following: ComicBooks.co, Anthony.co, CDW.co, DDR.co, HUB.co, OMG.co, FIN.co. I wonder what these domains will sell for.

They should have added more generic domains that might attract some big spenders…

Thanks to DomainIncite for the list
