One of the hardest things for any blogger/webmaster is ranking well for keywords. Everyone wants to rank high on google/bing/yahoo but the reality of it is that MANY people fail. People spend hundreds if not thousands on improving seo by building links, using anchor text, social bookmarking and more. The list goes on and on.

I have been working on improving my SEO and it is finally starting to slowly pay off. I have done guest commenting, backlinking, article submissions, social bookmarking and have been asking other domain webmasters to do link exchanges. MOST said no as I imagined since they are not getting any benefits by linking with me – since this is still a relatively new blog. However that has not stopped me….

I have been working on improving my pagerank in google since I started this blog last year. I am finally seeing search engine results. I want to rank well for the keyword zoop. Why you ask? Well because its my domain name – so I would like to rank high for it. There are 3,600 local searches and 880 EXACT searches for ZOOP which is why it is a GREAT starting point! I am happy to announce that I am not fluctuating from the bottom of the FIRST page in google and the first spot on the second page – which is a hell of a lot better than what I used to be ranked on – which was page 7.

I also just submitted (and got approved) on Technorati. I should have done this a while ago but was focusing on google. If you have a blog or website, make sure to do EVERYTHING possible to get noticed!

Technorati is a great place for any blogger/website to join. It is FREE and the amount of traffic you get is substantial. I recently submitted my site and already have obtained Authority and rank well for my keywords! If you go to Technorati – (search by blogs) and type in ZOOP or CO DOMAIN My blog comes up FIRST! Now, I dont have serach data but this is a good and rewarding feeling!

In addition to technorati I suggest you start with backlinking, blog commenting, social bookmarking, tweeting, and posting to facebook. DO THIS DAILY! Then you also want to do directory submissions and make sure to join and create accounts with Technorati, Reddit, StumbleUpon, Digg – these are the MAIN ones that get thousands of views daily – dont waste your time submitting to 500 places when there truly are only a handful of them that make a difference!

Best of luck to you, and I hope you all improve your rankings!

Last year, when I first heard about the newest co domain extension, I instantly became hooked and imagined a handful of co domains that I wanted to register. Well it is now a year later, and I have about 40 CO Domains in my portolio – of which 95% have been hand registered last year.

I decided to take some of my better co domains and develop a few of them just to see how they would rank in google and if I would be able to attract traffic. My co domains are very new so there is nothing to brag about – but they are getting consistent traffic and with the right marketing I believe that they will be able to get much more exposure IF I do it right. I am going to share all the CO domains that I have developed, and am working on daily to improve. As mentioned each CO domain is using wordpress and a free premium theme , which is extremely easy to use and has a ton of options you can customize.

SDCC.CO is a comic com related blog that I just created a few weeks ago. I love collecting (and make good money doing it) and also attending various conventions. SDCC is San Diego Comic Con and is the biggest comic/media convention there is. I got lucky and reg’d sdcc.co which is going to be strictly a comic con blog. My goal is to attend various conventions with flyers and even wear a SDCC.CO shirt to each. This will be a great way to attract traffic and get my name out there!

No Gas

I purchased nogas.co for $7 when godaddy had a coupon during the superbowl. This is a domain that I wanted to buy but not spend $30 on. NoGas is a blog that discusses hybrid vehicles, electric cars, alternative fuel and any other new car technology related issue.

Neuralgia is a site that discusses different medical symptoms of the neuralgia disorder. This is a very specific word that gets searched thousands of times a month – and neuralgia has been getting decent traffic.

Debt Guide

Debt guide is a debt related blog that you guessed it, talks about debt. This is one CO domain that I am looking to sell – interested?

Those are the CO domains that I am working on and developing – what are some co domains you are working on? My goals for the nezt few years are to develop the following domains: Adblocker, DailyBargain, SocialAds, Supply Center

Mar 032011

Everyone who owns a developed domain should set goals – realistic goals – to be specific. If you dont have any goals set, then whats the point of having a website? When I first started this blog, I wrote down many goals. Then I went through them all and figured out which ones were feasible and could be accomplished.

Some of my goals that I wrote down are: Rank in google for keywords, Zoop and CO Domain, Have consistent traffic to my blog, make some extra cash, and many more. Well all of my work has finally paid off slightly.

I have been wanting to rank for the word “Zoop” Why? I dont know – I just wanted to. There are about 800 monthly searches for zoop so i figured it would be a somewhat easy goal to achieve. After deleting headspace and adding All In One as my main SEO plugin, I noticed that my rankings in google were improving. I started on the 8th page and worked my way to the 3rd page. Well now google redid their algorithm and I have no idea where the hell my rank went – it simply said goodbye and I have no idea what page I am on… On a lighter side of things, I AM on the FIRST page in BING. I dont know how I feel about this – Does anyone ever use bing? I dont know if this is an accomplishment or not – but it has met one of my goals which was to be on the first page of google.. err I mean bing…

do follow blog arrow

For those of you who do not know about the importance and necessity of DO FOLLOW, I strongly suggest you read this article. Also, for any doubters out there, I ask you to read this as I am going to use this website as a method to prove that making your blog into a Do Follow site WILL increase traffic and WILL increase valuable comments.

What the %$#@& is Do Follow?

Be definition, “do follow” is a term given to web pages or sites that are not utilizing NoFollow, meaning that the link you provide when commenting on another persons blog WILL be followed by search engines, thus giving your link some juice and helping your blog/site increase in pagerank. Most blogs by default are no follow in order to cut back on the amount of spam. Having a no follow blog would also prevent your link from being used when google defines page rank.

Worried about SPAM? BRING IT!

The biggest issue with a do follow blog is SPAM – No one likes spam (not even the canned kind) and this is the MAIN reason that people do not make their blogs do follow. This is a bullshit excuse and is not valid today. Maybe this reason was valid 10 years ago – but its 2011 and with so many anti spam plugins, there is no reason for a blog to NOT be do follow. EVERY SINGLE wordpress plug has the BEST anti spam plugin already installed – AKISMET. This is the solution to your problem. I have been using aksimet since I started this blog and have 99% of all the comments I received marked as spam. The work is automatically done for you, and you can simply review the “spam” comments (in your spam folder) and click DELETE. That’s all – quick and easy.

ZOOP is Do Follow & Keyword Enabled

I started zoop.co in August 2010 – I registered a short easy to remember .co domain (if you dont know about .co domains, check out my MANY other posts) and decided I needed to do something different. Everyone has a blog – how can I make mine different. Well, I decided to make zoop keyword enabled using CommentLuv. ComLuv is an awesome pluing that lets someone type in their keywords when guest commenting – so NOT only do you get a do follow link when you post, you ALSO get the chance to link your keywords. You can download this awesome plugin HERE!

BOTH of these items have drastically increased my blogs exposure and have led to many great comments and people that come back to my blog. When I first started late last year, I was getting only about 5 unique views a day. I started guest commenting and submitting my blog to various places – This was taking way too long and didnt yield any results – I had to change something. I found out about ComLuv – installed it and now I market Zoop as the FIRST .CO ComLuv enabled blog and my traffic has increased from a pathetic 5 views a day to nearly 100. No this isnt an insane amount of traffic but it sure as hell is an improvement. Did I mention I started this blog less that 3 months ago?

What is your take on do follow blogs, or comluv? Do you use it? how has it helped your site?

google1 300x110 Google Is NOT The Best Search Engine

Believe it or not, this is what I randomly found out!!

Dont believe me??? Try it out for yourself

Go to Google and type in “best search engine” – you will be shocked!

The first result is for BING – well they paid for it, but still! The FIRST non paid result is for DOGPILE – yes dogpile. Their motto is “All the best search engines piled into one.” and based on 278 MILLION results, they come out as number one!

So I do find it a little odd that i am using google to basically see googles own search engine result – but hey, this is BIG!

butter chip cookie bar

A few weeks ago I read an interesting guest article by Rob Sequin on Elliot’s blog. The article discussed different options that one has with domains. It was a well written and concise article which led to the creation of this one.

In the article, Rob discusses domain parking. Everyone knows what it is, and many people don’t make great money from it – but hey – it’s a free way to potentially earn some extra cash and who doesn’t like that?

Most of the time parked pages don’t ever show up on google – well at least I have not seen too many of them. However I am pretty happy to announce that one of my PARKED domains is showing up on google!

ButterChip is currently showing up on google as the THIRD result – not bad for a parked domain. I have it parked at SmartName which offers hundreds of different parking themes and 3 different ways to park domains.

butterchip 1024x664 Parked Domain Ranks HIGH In Google

According the google’s keyword tool, there are 33,100 global searches and 27,100 monthly searches for the term “butter chip”!

Overall, I am pleased with the parked page and the fact that it does show up on the first page of google. A few weeks ago this was ranked as #1 but it dropped 2 spots.
